The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an Australian Government initiative intended to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia by supporting Australian undergraduates to study and undertake internships and mentorships in the region.
King & Wood Mallesons has been offering internships to scholars across Asia as part of the NCP initiative since 2015, and we are proud to have hosted 23 NCP scholars to date across our offices in China and Hong Kong, with the program continually looking to expand into new areas
The NCP initiative has two programs, the NCP Scholarship Program and the NCP Mobility Program, which are is open to Australian undergraduates aged 18 to 28 studying at Australian universities (we receive applications from both groups).
In 2016, China Consultant,
David Olsson, was appointed as a NCP Business Champion by Foreign Minister the Hon Julie Bishop MP. David joined an esteemed group of 18 Australian business leaders who champion the value of regional study and workplace experiences for Australian undergraduate students.
